Cory Henry is known for his unique blend of jazz, funk, gospel, R&B, and soul, creating a personal and instantly recognizable sound. Originally from Brooklyn, he began playing piano and organ at a very young age and made his debut on stage at the Apollo Theater at just 6 years old. He later gained global fame as a member of the band Snarky Puppy, with whom he won multiple Grammy Awards before building an impressive solo career.
In 2024, Henry released Church, a deeply emotional gospel album with strong personal roots, which earned him the 2025 Grammy for Best Roots Gospel Album. The album features collaborations with notable artists such as Eric Gales, Raphael Saadiq, Donnie McClurkin, Kierra Sheard, and Kim Burrell, and was inspired by his family’s musical heritage, including special contributions from his grandmother. The impact and story of the album were also captured in a PBS documentary that explores his life and creative process.
Cory Henry’s versatility is further highlighted by other Grammy wins: for his collaboration with Spanish artist Rosalía in 2023, and for his contribution to Kanye West’s Donda album. Over the years, he has worked with major names in music such as Bruce Springsteen, Imagine Dragons, Stevie Wonder, and others, solidifying his reputation as a complete and multifaceted musician.
Since his 2018 solo debut Art of Love, Cory Henry has continued with internationally acclaimed projects: Something to Say (Grammy-nominated in 2022 for Best Progressive R&B Album), Operation Funk (2023), and Live at the Piano (nominated in 2024). That same year, while touring with Stevie Wonder, he recorded the holiday album A Wonderful Holiday alongside members of Wonder’s band. Also in 2024, Cory made a special guest appearance at Coachella with Jon Batiste and was featured both in the film Saturday Night and the documentary Little Richard: I Am Everything.
